The aim of linking PAN card to Aadhar was to avoid the avoidance, build-up of black money and money laundering, and the use of black money by enforcing a provision by legislation to link Aadhar to account opening. It is also meant to deter extremism and to protect national security and the reduction of crime by enabling the Aadhaar number to be connected to cell phone SIM cards.
Multiple PAN cards for the same persons and PAN cards are the traditional mediums for money-laundering, tax evasion, black money processing and channeling in the name of fictitious persons. Many cases have been recorded using fraudulent and fictitious pan cards, created only for transacting black currency.
In order to circumvent the Supreme Court, it became compulsory to connect the sample to aadhar cards to verify their uniqueness and to discourage fraudulent transactions.
